~TALK TO ME TUESDAY-FEBRUARY 11, 2014

MY INTERVIEW WITH TRACEY ROSS (EX DR. EVE RUSSELL, PASSIONS)

Hi Tracey and thanks so much for joining me on The Soap Spiel!

Hi Lisa.

What was it like to be on such a show as Passions?

It was great fun to be on Passions.  It was also exhausting, challenging and frustrating
at times.  The cast and almost everyone who worked on the show was warm, friendly and lovably daffy. Everyone was dazzlingly good-looking and I never got used to it..

Tell us about the character on there in case there are those that do not know?

Dr. Eve Russell was the town doctor.  As far as I can tell she specialized in everything.
She did heart surgery, acted as coroner and if there had been pets on the show would
have probably been a vet as well.  Her two favorite things to say were, "Only love can save
him now" ,and, "All we can do now is pray."

Her main problem was trying to hide her somewhat sleezey past from her husband and family.
She was being blackmailed on a daily basis (by Ivy Crane or her own sister, Liz )
and romantically torn between her husband, T.C. and her
former flame, Julian Crane.

Would you consider doing another soap?

Yes, I would consider doing another soap if it was offered but since I consider myself
retired that is unlikely to happen.

What projects are you working on now?

I'm currently traveling around the country in a little RV and seeing America.

What is your passion?

My passions are my son, children in general, RV'ing, learning survival skills,
reading (especially philosophy and history).

That is amazing! Best of luck and love to you and Thank you so much Tracey, it was my pleasure! :)

TO CONTINUE MY THEME FOR FEBRUARY, MY GUEST ON FEBRUARY 11, 2014 WILL BE TRACEY ROSS, AKA DR. EVE RUSSELL FROM PASSIONS

~SATURDAY SPIEL-FEBRUARY 8, 2014~

Happy Saturday everyone! How is everyone? Hope well. What did you think of the soaps this past week? I loved them! I still have not been able to catch B&B, but will try to. I would love to hear your thoughts on that show.

Victor Cassadine is back and I am loving! From the looks of things, Dr. O and Victor were more than acquaintances and I am thinking he is actually Britt's father. It will be interesting to see their relationship unfold. It was good to see Rebecca Herbst aka Elizabeth Webber on this past week. Show me more, please :)

Days has been killin it and this past week was no exception. What did you all think of that shower scene? HOT, HOT, HOT! I thought Sami for sure was going to catch them at that moment. The truth will come out and it will be a can't miss!

Just a thought...am I the only one that thinks and likes Theresa and Brady hooking up? I think it will be hot and maybe can help each other. Brady is definitely the lesser of the two evils and I think he can help Theresa and it can turn into something special.

David Tom reprised his role as Billy Abbott this week and just wanted to say Congrats and WELCOME BACK! Look forward to more Billy/Tom. I will certainly miss Billy Miller and wish him the absolute best. Much love Billy!! xoxo

These thoughts/opinions are only mine. We all have them. Until next time on The Soap Spiel, take care and be well!

~TALK TO ME TUESDAY~ FEBRUARY 4, 2014

MY INTERVIEW WITH TONYA PINKINS (ex Livia Frye Cudahy, AMC)

What are your thoughts on the cancellations of AMC and OLTL?

It saddens me to see AMC and OTL gone. I grew up watching those shows. I spent 20 years in daytime on AMC and ATWT. It was great training ground. It was a great way to support yourself while pursuing theater. Some amazing actors inhabited those sound stages

What was it like being on such an amazing show such as AMC?

AMC was a dream for me because at 7 I imagined one day being on that show. It was the first show I auditioned for when I got to New York. i was scheduled to test for Angie and I knew I was going to get it so I turned down Tin Types at Actor's theater of Louisville only to have the test cancelled because Debbie Morgan had been offered and had accepted the role. I was too young to know about "offers" back then. But Joan D'Incecco remembered me and brought me in to test sight unseen for  ten years for the role of Livia. Joan D'Incecco must be commended for assembling the stellar original cast.

Would you consider doing another soap?

I would love to do another soap. there is nothing like it. It's kind of like theater on film . You can be big in soaps in a way that is not acceptable in any medium other than the theater

What are you working on now?

I have been doing a lot of writing. I've finished a play. I'm finishing a book on my walk of the West highland Way in Scotland. I'm on the Obie committee so seeing lots of theater, which I love. Directing a piece by Jeffrey Sweet in a festival in April. I'll be performing in PITBULLS by Keith Joseph Atkins directed by Leah gardener at Rattle Stick in the fall. And a few other workshops. But lots of writing, I've got a number of stories to tell

What advice would you give to up and coming actors?

Its a great time to be an actor. You can create your own work post it online and get attention from a global audience. JUST DO IT!

Thanks so much Tonya! It is certainly my pleasure to have you on The Soap Spiel!

SATURDAY SPIEL ~FEBRUARY 1, 2014

Good Afternoon and Happy Saturday and February to you all! Hope all finds you well! I am so sorry for the late post this week, but let's get started, shall we?

First, I would like to talk about the blog itself. Just a reminder to you all that suggestions, criticisms, are welcome. I would love feedback no matter what it is. Also, if there is anyone you would like me to interview, I would be glad to try and get for a future post. Live tweeting is something I would also like to do, so watch for that. One other addition to the blog is your thoughts on events that you have gone to. If there is anyone who would like to tell me about a soap event that you have been to or are going to, I would like to interview me. Email me all correspondence to thesoapspiel@gmail.com.
Thanks in advance.

Lots of excitement this week for the shows. I do not watch B&B anymore, but will try to watch and give input the best that I can. Loving Days and maybe GH is growing on me again, maybe...

Nick is back on Days and crazier than ever. Has he changed, gotten crazier? This remains to be seen, but would not hold my breath that he is reformed. Kudos to Blake Berris on his return. Fun to watch!

I am a Chabby fan, so this is hard for me to say, but Ejabby is hot! Wow, and more to come. I am looking forward to seeing next week.

Y&R was full of suspense and drama. It was finally revealed that Adam was Delia's killer. Billy took Adam hostage and were in another accident and at the end of yesterday's cliffhanger, an explosion. I truly do not think it was Adam. I do believe Adam thinks he hit Delia, but actually didn't. I am looking forward to seeing how that story unfolds.

GH on Friday was amazing! Thaoo Penghlis returns as Victor Cassadine and sure to make more drama. Dr. Obrecht is the Chief of Staff at GH because Victor is the Chief Director at the WSB. That explains a lot! Victor and his goons came to see Robin and wants her to help him bring Stavros and Helena back from the dead; which will make even more drama!

Well, going to go for now. Check back on Tuesday with "Talk to me Tuesday" and my special guest, Tonya Pinkins of AMC fame.

These are only my thoughts and opinions, we are all entitled to have them.

Have a great weekend and see you next time on The Soap Spiel! xoxo
