~TALK TO ME TUESDAY-FEBRUARY 25, 2014

MY INTERVIEW WITH MARTHA MADISON (MARLY, THE BAY, EX-BELLE BRADY, DAYS)

Welcome Martha. It's such a pleasure to meet you.

Thank you!

I stirred a little buzz the other night regarding Belle, your character on Days. Would you consider doing her again?

I have loved Days of our Lives since I was a little girl, and have been a soap fan in general my whole life.  Getting to actually work on Days was a dream come true.  If the stars align for me to play Belle again someday, I'd be honored and thrilled.

Congrats on The Soapbox. That is amazing. I have't had a chance to call in yet. Tell us a little about that.

The idea of SoapBox was conceived by Lilly Melgar and myself when TradioV asked if we were interested in doing a show.  At a time when I was "out to here pregnant" I wasn't doing much else and wanted to stay relevant in Hollywood and involved in the soap circle.  This was a perfect way to scratch that itch.....and get to play with some of my favorite people in an uncensored environment.

Compare your character on "The Bay* and Belle.

Belle and Marly have a core difference in that Belle was in constant conflict about who she was and what kind of life she wanted for herself.  Shawn or Philip? Fashion or nursing? Pure or deceptive?  Belle always seemed to be fighting against her instincts instead of embracing them.  I also feel that Belle didn't crave any kind of independence.  She liked being half of a whole and being looked after.
Marly, on the other hand, is very self-aware, independent and strong.  She may not be the most PC woman in the world, but she knows exactly what she wants and doesn't want. She will take whatever steps necessary to achieve her objectives.  She's also an unforgiving, hot head.  She doesn't take crap from anyone, and she'll rarely give you a second chance!!

With the reference "fight or flight," I would say Belle was flight and Marly is all fight.

Thank you Martha! Truly my pleasure! All the best to you! xoxo

~SATURDAY SPIEL-FEBRUARY 22, 2014~

Happy Saturday all!

This week, I started a fan fic of Elizabeth and Nikolas from GH called True Love is Never Wrong. I would love to thank my sister and Christy from Liason Radio for helping critique it. Thank you also to the positive feedback of friends that made it possible. I would love to share it with you. No one has to like Niz, butt it is something I wanted to write about and enjoy both actors and the couple from GH. More feedback is greatly appreciated.  Have a great weekend! See you next time on the Spiel!

Nikolas had been back in town for a month now and even though Elizabeth's feelings for Nikolas had resurfaced; she has been fighting them. "I don't want to make any more mistakes", she thinks to herself. Elizabeth has only seen Nikolas once since he returned to Port Charles, but it was as if time stood still when she laid eyes upon him: He looked amazing. Liz's feelings and memories flooded through her as well as the butterflies in her stomach. "Oh Liz, what are you going to do" she said out loud as Nikolas suddenly appears at the Nurse's Station at GH where Liz is doing the morning shift. Nikolas looks at her and says "Do what?" Elizabeth's mouth dropped open and she stuttered, "Hi Nikolas...oh nothing. What am I going to make for dinner?" Elizabeth laughs to cover up her nervousness. Nikolas laughs and smiles. "Funny you should mention dinner..." Liz looks at him "oh?" Just then Liz's heart dropped to her stomach. Nikolas smiles, "yes, I was wondering if you would do me the honor of having dinner with me tonight at the Metro Court?" Elizabeth smiles a little, trying not to express the total happiness of this moment, "yes, I would love to." Nikolas gives her a big smile. "Great, I will pick you up at 7. I have a board meeting, so I will see you tonight." Elizabeth nods and Nikolas smiles a bit as he walks away. Elizabeth goes back to work happily and can hardly wait until her shift ends.

Elizabeth arrives home later and plays with the kids then makes them dinner. She calls her grandmother, Audrey to come over to babysit while she is out with Nikolas. Audrey happily agrees and will be there shortly. Elizabeth scrambles to look for something to wear, but it's a no brainer. She will wear her favorite red dress. Elizabeth gets in the shower and memories of their sexual encounters flood her mind, including one in the shower. "Why am I so nervous? It's just dinner and it's Nikolas," she said out loud. Elizabeth gets out of the shower and starts to finish getting ready and her grandmother arrives. Elizabeth hugs Audrey and greets her happily. "So good to see you, Grams and thank you for coming over tonight." Audrey smiles, "Anytime, honey. Where are you going anyway?" "Nikolas asked me to go to dinner." Audrey smiles. "That's nice, I hope you have a great time." Elizabeth nods and goes to finish getting ready.

Elizabeth is ready just as the doorbells rings and she yells softly down to her grandmother to please get the door. Audrey answers the door, greets Nikolas and they visit with the kids until Elizabeth comes down after a few minutes. Elizabeth looks stunning in her red dress with her hair up and a smile on her face that lights up the room instantly. She wanted to look perfect for this night and she accomplished that. Nikolas smiled at her as she comes down the stairs and takes her hand. "You look beautiful, Elizabeth. Shall we go?" Elizabeth nods as say their goodbyes to Audrey and the kids.
It was a beautiful Friday night in Port Charles and everyone is out. Nikolas was glad he made a reservation a week ago. He wasn't the only unsure one about their feelings for each other, but he was hopeful and made the reservation anyway. Nikolas asked for the best table, champagne, and beautiful flowers to be delivered there before dinner.

Elizabeth and Nikolas arrive a short time later and they were seated immediately. Nikolas went all out for this night and it was going to go according to plan, he just knew it. Elizabeth smiled at him and their waiter came over and gave them their menus. They are both a little nervous but very happy this night is finally here. Nikolas looks into Elizabeth's eyes and just then the flowers Nikolas ordered arrives. Elizabeth takes them happily, smells them, opens the card and smiles at Nikolas. "Thank you so much. They are absolutely beautiful." Nikolas scoffs softly. "Not as beautiful as you!" Elizabeth grins and champagne is served. Nikolas raises his glass, "To us." Elizabeth raises her glass and they clink looking into each other's eyes.

The waiter takes their order of shrimp cocktail and filet mignon, and then suddenly there is a silence. After what seemed to be forever, only a mere minute for Elizabeth, she just had to make her confession. "Nikolas, I want you, I am still in love with you. Never really stopped, but -" Nikolas puts his finger on her lips," You do not know how long I have waited to hear you say that. I want you, Elizabeth. I have always loved you. Never stopped either." Elizabeth looks down and Nikolas brings her chin up, "This is our time now, Liz. There is nothing or no one to stop us. We were meant to be together. " Elizabeth smiles a little, "I am so afraid we will be making a mistake." Nikolas shakes his head, "True love is never a mistake." Elizabeth smiles in agreement.

~TALK TO ME TUESDAY-FEBRUARY 18, 2014~

MY INTERVIEW WITH GREGORI J. MARTIN (DIRECTOR, WRITER, PRODUCER)

What can you tell us about this Season of The Bay so far?

I can as it's by far the best season yet. I am more excited about this season than I've been about any other one. It feels so much more solid all around.
Are you working on any other projects? I am ALWAYS working on more than one project at a time My production company is always working on multiple projects. Besides THE BAY we are in post production on two feature films, pre-production on a TV mini series, and in the developmental stages on out next feature.

Who Shot The Daytime Soap was amazing! Can daytime and internet soaps exist with one another?

It's the only way daytime soaps will survive. You look at the success of Netflix originals series' ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, HOUSE OF CARDS, and HEMLOCK GROVE and the amount of time you see folks on the internet and you just know the internet IS the television of the future. I have been saying this for years now and I am sticking to my guns. Half of GH's fan base don't even watch the show on TV anymore, they watch it online so it's sort of obvious. The perception that began to spread that soaps couldn't even exist on the internet because of the failure of the AMC/OLTL is not true at all. It just needed to be mapped out better. There is lots of hope for successful internet shows! Look at Netflix!

What words of wisdom do you have for us?

Never forget to follow your dreams. Any dream can become a reality if you truly believe in it! Stay positive, love, and work really hard... Oh, and get a ROKU box!!!

      ~SATURDAY SPIEL-FEBRUARY 15, 2014~

Hi everyone! Hope finds you all well. This winter has sure reared its ugly head and made things difficult.

For the most part, I watched Days and GH, but not all of it.

First of all, I want to thank @susiecue78 for being The Soap Spiel's 100th follower and winning an autograph pic of Days' star, Jade Harlow. Keep it here for more contests, etc.

The issue of Liz getting the DNA to determine who the father of Britt's baby was awesome.. #TeamLiz. However, I really hope they give her a better storyline. She deserves happiness and not in any danger or controversies.

Love the Thrady scenes lately. I think they will definitely hook up sometime soon. Some people have not taking kindly to this or Theresa. I understand that. However, I think Theresa needs someone like Brady and vice versa.  Jafe is getting closer and I am loving! Next week, things heat up even more!

These opinions are only mine, we all have them and should respect everyone's.

Sorry to keep this short, stay tuned for more surprises and Talk to me Tuesday, February 18th, when my guest will be Gregori J. Martin!

Until next time on The Soap Spiel, stay safe and well!

      Lisa XOXO

      ~TALK TO ME TUESDAY-FEBRUARY 11, 2014

MY INTERVIEW WITH TRACEY ROSS (EX DR. EVE RUSSELL, PASSIONS)

Hi Tracey and thanks so much for joining me on The Soap Spiel!

      Hi Lisa.

What was it like to be on such a show as Passions?

It was great fun to be on Passions.  It was also exhausting, challenging and frustrating
at times.  The cast and almost everyone who worked on the show was warm, friendly and lovably daffy. Everyone was dazzlingly good-looking and I never got used to it..

Tell us about the character on there in case there are those that do not know?

Dr. Eve Russell was the town doctor.  As far as I can tell she specialized in everything.
She did heart surgery, acted as coroner and if there had been pets on the show would
have probably been a vet as well.  Her two favorite things to say were, "Only love can save
him now" ,and, "All we can do now is pray."

Her main problem was trying to hide her somewhat sleezey past from her husband and family.
She was being blackmailed on a daily basis (by Ivy Crane or her own sister, Liz )
and romantically torn between her husband, T.C. and her
      former flame, Julian Crane.

Would you consider doing another soap?

Yes, I would consider doing another soap if it was offered but since I consider myself
retired that is unlikely to happen.

What projects are you working on now?

I'm currently traveling around the country in a little RV and seeing America.

      What is your passion?

My passions are my son, children in general, RV'ing, learning survival skills,
      reading (especially philosophy and history).

That is amazing! Best of luck and love to you and Thank you so much Tracey, it was my pleasure! :)

TO CONTINUE MY THEME FOR FEBRUARY, MY GUEST ON FEBRUARY 11, 2014 WILL BE TRACEY ROSS, AKA DR. EVE RUSSELL FROM PASSIONS

      ~SATURDAY SPIEL-FEBRUARY 8, 2014~

Happy Saturday everyone! How is everyone? Hope well. What did you think of the soaps this past week? I loved them! I still have not been able to catch B&B, but will try to. I would love to hear your thoughts on that show.

Victor Cassadine is back and I am loving! From the looks of things, Dr. O and Victor were more than acquaintances and I am thinking he is actually Britt's father. It will be interesting to see their relationship unfold. It was good to see Rebecca Herbst aka Elizabeth Webber on this past week. Show me more, please :)

Days has been killin it and this past week was no exception. What did you all think of that shower scene? HOT, HOT, HOT! I thought Sami for sure was going to catch them at that moment. The truth will come out and it will be a can't miss!

Just a thought...am I the only one that thinks and likes Theresa and Brady hooking up? I think it will be hot and maybe can help each other. Brady is definitely the lesser of the two evils and I think he can help Theresa and it can turn into something special.

David Tom reprised his role as Billy Abbott this week and just wanted to say Congrats and WELCOME BACK! Look forward to more Billy/Tom. I will certainly miss Billy Miller and wish him the absolute best. Much love Billy!! xoxo

These thoughts/opinions are only mine. We all have them. Until next time on The Soap Spiel, take care and be well!

      ~TALK TO ME TUESDAY~ FEBRUARY 4, 2014

MY INTERVIEW WITH TONYA PINKINS (ex Livia Frye Cudahy, AMC)

What are your thoughts on the cancellations of AMC and OLTL?

It saddens me to see AMC and OTL gone. I grew up watching those shows. I spent 20 years in daytime on AMC and ATWT. It was great training ground. It was a great way to support yourself while pursuing theater. Some amazing actors inhabited those sound stages

What was it like being on such an amazing show such as AMC?

AMC was a dream for me because at 7 I imagined one day being on that show. It was the first show I auditioned for when I got to New York. i was scheduled to test for Angie and I knew I was going to get it so I turned down Tin Types at Actor's theater of Louisville only to have the test cancelled because Debbie Morgan had been offered and had accepted the role. I was too young to know about "offers" back then. But Joan D'Incecco remembered me and brought me in to test sight unseen for  ten years for the role of Livia. Joan D'Incecco must be commended for assembling the stellar original cast.

Would you consider doing another soap?

I would love to do another soap. there is nothing like it. It's kind of like theater on film . You can be big in soaps in a way that is not acceptable in any medium other than the theater

What are you working on now?

I have been doing a lot of writing. I've finished a play. I'm finishing a book on my walk of the West highland Way in Scotland. I'm on the Obie committee so seeing lots of theater, which I love. Directing a piece by Jeffrey Sweet in a festival in April. I'll be performing in PITBULLS by Keith Joseph Atkins directed by Leah gardener at Rattle Stick in the fall. And a few other workshops. But lots of writing, I've got a number of stories to tell

What advice would you give to up and coming actors?

Its a great time to be an actor. You can create your own work post it online and get attention from a global audience. JUST DO IT!

Thanks so much Tonya! It is certainly my pleasure to have you on The Soap Spiel!

      SATURDAY SPIEL ~FEBRUARY 1, 2014

Good Afternoon and Happy Saturday and February to you all! Hope all finds you well! I am so sorry for the late post this week, but let's get started, shall we?

First, I would like to talk about the blog itself. Just a reminder to you all that suggestions, criticisms, are welcome. I would love feedback no matter what it is. Also, if there is anyone you would like me to interview, I would be glad to try and get for a future post. Live tweeting is something I would also like to do, so watch for that. One other addition to the blog is your thoughts on events that you have gone to. If there is anyone who would like to tell me about a soap event that you have been to or are going to, I would like to interview me. Email me all correspondence to thesoapspiel@gmail.com.
      Thanks in advance.

Lots of excitement this week for the shows. I do not watch B&B anymore, but will try to watch and give input the best that I can. Loving Days and maybe GH is growing on me again, maybe...

Nick is back on Days and crazier than ever. Has he changed, gotten crazier? This remains to be seen, but would not hold my breath that he is reformed. Kudos to Blake Berris on his return. Fun to watch!

I am a Chabby fan, so this is hard for me to say, but Ejabby is hot! Wow, and more to come. I am looking forward to seeing next week.

Y&R was full of suspense and drama. It was finally revealed that Adam was Delia's killer. Billy took Adam hostage and were in another accident and at the end of yesterday's cliffhanger, an explosion. I truly do not think it was Adam. I do believe Adam thinks he hit Delia, but actually didn't. I am looking forward to seeing how that story unfolds.

GH on Friday was amazing! Thaoo Penghlis returns as Victor Cassadine and sure to make more drama. Dr. Obrecht is the Chief of Staff at GH because Victor is the Chief Director at the WSB. That explains a lot! Victor and his goons came to see Robin and wants her to help him bring Stavros and Helena back from the dead; which will make even more drama!

Well, going to go for now. Check back on Tuesday with "Talk to me Tuesday" and my special guest, Tonya Pinkins of AMC fame.

These are only my thoughts and opinions, we are all entitled to have them.

Have a great weekend and see you next time on The Soap Spiel! xoxo
